The New York Women?s Chamber of Commerce is hosting its thrid annual NY IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS event on June 26. ? This year’s focus are Procurement and Employment opportunities in West Harlem. The event’s objectives are to open doors and connect M/WBE certified firms with procurement opportunities with NYCHA and their Prime Contractors while assisting Prime Contractors and City Agencies to achieve their M/WBE goals. This year’s event has a workforce development component. Together with Manhattan Community Board 9, the offices of Council Member Robert Jackson, Council Member Inez Dickens, and the West Harlem Development Corporation, the NYWCC has invited union and non-union apprenticeship programs to participate in the event in an effort to reach out to CB9M residents seeking employment in the construction industry and especially in the Columbia Expansion.
